July 26, 2011: Board of Supervisors Approves Redistricting Map Proposal
The Board of Supervisors approved Map Proposal 17 D Amended on a 3-2 vote as the proposed new supervisorial district boundaires. On Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 10:00 am the Board of Supervisors will conduct a public hearing to consider adoption of an ordinance establishing the approved map as the new supervisorial district boundaries. The following provides map and data for the approved redistricting proposal.

Redistricting Public Hearing on Tuesday, June 28th
The Board of Supervisors held a public hearing on Tuesday, June 28th at 1 pm
to consider a report of Redistricting Map Proposals for County Supervisorial Districts based on 2010 Census data and public input received to date, and to consider approving a Redistricting Map proposal as the basis for an Ordinance to establish the decennial redistricting plan which adjust the supervisorial district boundaries for Contra Costa County.

Community Workshops
The Board of Supervisors and County staff is hosting Public Input Workshops throughout the County to provide an overview of the redistricting process, present map concepts, and receive comments and input. Please Note: The San Pablo workshops location has been corrected as of May 12th.  A new workshop has been added in Lafayette on Wednesday, June 1st.

Census Resources
The Census Bureau has the following on-line resources that will allow anyone to see the population data for their community:

Amercian FactFinder: American FactFinder is a user friendly website to access the new 2010 Census Data. 

2010 Redistricting Data available for Download: The Census Bureau provides access to the 2010 Census Redistricting Data from an FTP site in a single zip package. Users of the FTP application need to upzip the package after downloading. The data is provided in flat ASCII format and users must import the data into the spreadsheet/database software of their choice.

2010 Census Redistricting TIGER/Line Shapefiles: The Census Bureau provides TIGER/Line Shapefiles for legal and statistical geographic areas as well as features such as roads, railroads, and rivers.
